My JPSAE interview
Wednesday, January 18, 2012 / 2:27 PM
I applied for JPSAE as I had this feeling I was unable to get into my desired course. It's visual communication and the 2011 COP was 14. After my CCA cut off I got 15..so yeah you should know how much I got. Since I still have a chance, so I applied for both JAE and JPSAE.
Through this experience of JPSAE I learned a lot, like I must never be last minute. I had to do a lot of research on the course, because I won't know what questions may be asked against me. (Questions I can't answer) My interview was at 10 am yesterday and I woke up at 7 am to print and compile my stuffs together. It was frantic and crazy..which is why I felt so last minute. By the time I was ready it was 9:20 am..and I was told to be at the design office 15 minutes earlier. So I cabbed down instead. Turns out, I was the third interviewee and my interview ended up to be at like 10:30 am. Well, better than being late?
It was an individual interview and I faced 3 lecturers. I think I described too much about my portfolio things because I was kind of cut off..:s The lecturers kinda taunted me about the cold hard truths about VSC..that it's gonna be very tough every semester. Actually, I knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Having taken D&T, it was like a predecessor, so I kind of expect that VSC is gonna be really tough. One of the lecturers went like, "You won't cry in a corner right?"
There was this painting I did and I added glitter on top and the lecturer said, "I hate glitter. Makes everything messy." I just kept quiet :S I think he disliked lomography too. Oops. You can't satisfy everybody anyway. Gah.
After the interview, I received some well responses from them. Funny thing is that they didn't read through my testimonials nor even ask about my results. They just scanned through all of it. I suppose for design courses your portfolio is more important than others. I think I'll be receiving both JAE and JPSAE posting results on 30 January. Anticipation!
Oh yeah, I saw Amelia too! She went for the JPSAE interview too, but different course. It was a pleasant surprise ^.^
Also not to forget people who have helped me a lot through this process and also prayed and gave me lots of luck. Thank you so much!! XX
Done that above yesterday using permanent marker. And I'm tired of re-tracing the words all over again. I wanna get inked so much.
I've been wanting to get a tattoo since last year. I think tattoos are beautiful, especially if they bring about stories and/or meanings in your life. Tattoo is a form of art.
I asked my mum if I am allowed to get a tattoo, and surprisingly she allowed me to! What's more surprising is that she understands that it's art. Now, the only person I have to ask would be my dad.
I don't know when I wanna get inked, maybe until I have come to a conclusion of a design. I want something unique, something nobody has it. Something that belongs to only me. :)
Initially I wanted to get inked on my left wrist, then I thought would it be dangerous? Because after all that's where the veins are, right? And then I thought of the back of my palm and the side of my fingers - but I guess maybe not 'cause the tattoo might be quite small.
I love the meaning behind her first tattoo. ♥ And she's so gorgeous too!
Initially I was hesitating about wanting one, because I fear that when I work in the future I might not be allowed and the future complications that might just bring to myself. Yes I think that far. too much? There would definitely be pains, and I hope I am able to tolerate it~
Tokyo Tower
Anyway, something off-topic: I celebrated Christmas eve with the youths of E474 by having steamboat. That night was really really crazy and one of my friends laughed till he cried. HAHA. But the next morning I had diarrhoea and I wasn't the only one. Lol still, that night was well-spent!
Last night, I had thanksgiving dinner and gifts exchange with E474 again~ Funny thing is Thanksgiving is right after Christmas in Singapore. :o We hanged at The Coffee Club in Paragon. The main dishes are quite exotic to me but I was able to adapt to it. Too used to local food~
I received a Starbucks tumbler from the gifts exchange!! I was so delighted about it 'cause I have always wanted one. Good things do come to those who wait. :) We just gotta be patient.
Oh yeah, my first pair of monthly contact lenses have expired. (;A;) Thought I could overuse them by a day or two, but just, too baddd.
But, I guess Christmas gets better each year for me.
Can't wait for 2012 d(^.^)b
Those were just part of photos taken from my typical practice for portraiture.
And yup, I've still got a lot to learn.
By the way, on Monday I decided to make some 親子丼 (oyakodon) for lunch! Before that, I went to Yamakawa Super to look for めんつゆ mentsuyu and そうめん soumen. However, it didn't sell めんつゆ but つゆ tsuyu instead. So i got that one and it turned out fine for the dish. よかった!
親 oya stands for parent (in this case is the chicken), 子 ko stands for child (the egg) and 丼 don is the rice.
A typical 親子丼 looks like this:
おいしそう! :9
It's really easy to cook! I'm still a beginner at cooking and for someone like me to say it; trust me it's easy ^.^ I think the only difficult part is like getting the ingredients? I learned how to make 親子丼 from this YouTube video:
Skip to 0:30 if you want to watch just the main part.
One of the Japanese YouTubers I like is Runnyrunny999. :D
He stated that this method is a cheat one, because the original recipe is to use だし dashi soup (which i have no idea how to get that) but he said that めんつゆ mentsuyu has been already seasoned by dashi and soy sauce.
I don't know how does the original one tastes like, as that was my first time trying 親子丼.
I love Japanese cuisine a lot, because they serve like really generously and the way they add all the garnishes and stuff..makes me enjoy food. Japanese cuisine gave me the deepest impression I guess. Or maybe I'm just biased. ( ̄▽ ̄)
Here's an example of being generous:
尾道ラーメン Onomichi Ramen from Hiroshima.
Like, omg?! (*゚Д゚) Look at that multitudinous amount of spring onions. And you know what, I love spring onions a lot.
..And this:
ラーメンゼロ Zero Ramen (o.o) from Tokyo.
If there was a longgg street of Japanese food stalls right below my flat I would
This is the latest movie I've caught so far. You Are the Apple of My Eye is a Taiwanese romance film which is based on the semi-autobiographical novel which has the similar title by Giddens 九把刀.
As a nostalgic person, I enjoyed each and every scene of the movie. If I were asked to watch it again, I don't mind at all! This movie reminded myself of typical secondary school days. I watched it with my friends and they are still in craze with the movie. They even wanted to get the novel. I heard it was so popular that many Popular bookstores sold them out. I had thoughts of buying the novel too but then again, it's Chinese. (I figured out I'll have problems reading it.) But if you're interested in reading the novel, it's on the App Store for free! You can even choose to read in either traditional or simplified Chinese.
However the ebook is only up to like, 50 chapters? I'm not very sure either..
I think Michelle Chen (who acts as the lead female Shen Chia-Yi) is so pretty! I like her smile, so sweet and simple. I remembered she acted as Rainie Yang's best friend in Why Why Love. Of course, don't forget the lead male, Ko Chen-Tung (Wikipedia says he's a first-time actor!), he reminded me of one of my classmates. I think Ko Chen-Tung is very charismatic~ If I'm not wrong, I think one of the supporting actors is from Lollipop. Right?
The whole movie itself gave me a retro 90's feel. It's near 2 hours long. My friends and I laughed like no tomorrow~ Some of the scenes were quite boys-mocking. 打手抢~HAHA. If you were to talk to me about the movie I'd still laugh about it.
Why are the uniforms like for prisoners kind? I didn't know there were numbers on the uniforms until I saw the photo. Are all Taiwan schools in the past like that? :o
He even looks so handsome from his back HAHA. The uniform with lots of blue dots is just memorable. -Tries hard not to be a spoiler-
The moment I came back home first thing I did is to download all the soundtracks HAHA. My favourites are 那些年 and 孩子氣.
【孩子氣】
Completely self-composed and sung by Michelle! Love her sweet voice :)
【那些年】
SO CUTE.
So yeah, if you're still hesitating or have yet to watch, watch it already! Writing this post itself makes me wanna watch it again. Yup, that's how nice it is. All images are taken from Google.
Since it's absolute freedom now so I purchased a pair of contacts and hair dye.
I used the Liese hair dye (Chestnut Brown) and it didn't go well.
I came up 4 reasons to support why I failed:
▲ It's my first time dying my hair (so the dye chemicals weren't absorbed much).
▲ I had to take out my specs hence everything was a blur.
▲ It's bubble shampoo dye. (Many said they aren't as good as the classic ones)
▲ I'm a noob.
Damn.
Perhaps I might re-dye my hair again after I collected my O level results which should be on the second week of January.
Never mind about the hair colour. Yup, I started wearing contact lenses on 24 November, which was right after the TPRawks! event. Since it was my first time wearing them (and I've been waiting for this day), I had both the fear and excitement inside. The optometrist put them on for me first and my eyes were all teary. I didn't experience any pains but definitely there were discomforts (of course). I took 30 minutes at the optometrist's.
Viewing the world without spectacles feels like having new pair of eyes. I sound like I'm exaggerating because I have been wearing specs since I was 6 (´△`)↓ so having the plastic load off my face is a huge 気持ち moment for me~ I'm getting better at putting and removing them now! I guess the phrase "practice makes perfect" suits this.
Here's my naked single-eyelid eyes and chubby cheeks. Do I look better without my spectacles?
Initially I wasn't used to this look, thinking that I need to put on some light make up lol. But now I feel a lot better.
Nails that were drawn and painted by my friend last month ;)
Prom Night!
My dear friend Pearlyn (above) helped me with the make up, hair and nails. Thank you babe!! (*^3^)/〜☆
I've spend a lot for prom and my skirt was the most expensive and it wasn't worth the price. But still~
I wore 2 inch heels and they were enough to make my feet super sore.
I guess I was quite lucky to get to attend prom, because it was the first prom ever in East Spring's history! (*□*) Even though it was boring at some parts, still I enjoyed dancing and taking photos with all my friends. ヽ(*^ー^)人(^ー^*)ノ♪♪
I decided on wearing a maxi skirt because I wanted to try different things. Most of the times I'd wear short skirts and short shorts so yeah. It was a hassle (accidentally step on it) but I liked the flare!
Nobody asked why I bought a pink one (because I dislike pink, remember?) haha! Some guys even thought I was wearing a dress lol.
Okay, the reason why I chose light colours is because I want my outfit to be of earthly colours. My inspiration is from here. Rest of the photos are on facebook c:
Aww man, I'll miss most of the 5Ns badly D:
Many have asked me what I've been up to during the holidays, and I just tell them I'm wasting my time and money away. (That's the truth.) I went to many shops to apply for part-time jobs but to no avail. I guess I'm not working this month, 'cause I'll be heading to Malaysia again and who wants to hire someone who's traveling on a festive season? Still, I can't wait to go there again ;)
Sad part is, I'll be missing out the Candlelight service in church this year! Sob. ・゜・(つД`)・゜・
